We all know that writing well has always been essential to academic success. However, in today’s age, we write more than ever before. We tweet, post, blog, text, and email everyday. All day. A well crafted tweet can be a work of genius. But a poorly written post can position you as the subject of public ridicule. To make sure you don’t became the laughing stock of social media or lose a job because of a poorly constructed cover letter, you will OWN a grammatical concept by learning it and teaching it to the class.
Task: With a group of 3-4, you will be assigned one of the following grammatical concepts/skills. In a 10 minute lesson, you will teach the skill to the class by completing the requirements below.

- Commas: before a coordinating conjunction and after an introductory clause
- Semicolons vs. Colons
- Apostrophes
- Dash vs. Appositive Commas (or commas around non-essential information)
- Mechanics
- Parallel Structure (or parallel construction)
- Dangling Modifiers
- Wordiness
- Active vs. Passive Voice
Requirements:
- Research the concept.
- Practice it with your group (see the links on the website: kellytaylorenglish.weebly.com)
- Create a lesson to teach the concept to the class:
- Define the concept and explain the rule/s
- Provide example sentences
- Create an activity that requires the class to practice
- Grade the assessment over your concept and provide feedback
How you will be graded:
- Accuracy: Did you explain the concept correctly?
- Completion: Did you meet all the requirements?
- Transitions: Did the lesson move seamlessly? Did your group seem prepared?
- Delivery: Did you speak clearly? Did the audience understand what they were learning?
